Located 28 miles South West of Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly are just a short flight or ferry trip away. There are three modes of transport to choose from offered by two operators. Flights on the plane or helicopter operate all year round and the ferry operates from late March to Early November. There are no commercial passenger services to or from the islands on Sundays. Isles of Scilly Travel
Flights
Isles of Scilly Travel can fly you to the islands on their Twin Otter and Islander aircraft. Daily flights operate year round from Lands End (15mins) and Newquay (30mins) airports in Cornwall and additional flights operate from Exeter (60mins), Bristol (70mins) and Southampton (90mins) from Spring to Autumn. Check in times are up to an hour before the flight is due to depart.
The planes fly into St Mary's airport where taxis meet each flight to take you to your accommodation. Taxi fares are payable however there is no need to book in advance.
Ferry
Isles of Scilly Travel also operate the Scillonian III passenger ferry which sails from Penzance to St Mary's from late March to early November. The Scillonian sails 6 days a week from April to mid October (not Sundays) and 4 days a week at the beginning and end of the season.
The ferry trip takes around 2hrs 45mins leaving Penzance at 09:30 and leaving St Mary's at 16:30. Departure and arrival times can sometimes be affected by the weather and tide as can the length of the journey.
The quay at which the Scillonian docks is a 10-15 minute walk from The Bylet. Taxis need to be booked. Clearly labelled luggage will be delivered automatically by Island Carriers for a small charge.

British International fly their Sikorsky S61 helicopters from Penzance in Cornwall to either St Mary's or Tresco on the Isles of Scilly. The flight duration is 20 minutes and offers a good view of the West Cornwall coastline on the way.
It has been confirmed that flights will be operating from Penzance until at least the end of the 2012 season. Dedicated taxis meet each flight to drop you at your accommodation (fare payable).
